Game-changing National Lottery grant to get Essex active

Essex has been awarded a “game-changing” National Lottery grant of £10.68 million from Sport England to increase activity levels across Essex. The three-year plan, published today, promised to tackle the inequalities which prevent 391,600 people in Essex from enjoying the physical, social and mental health benefits of an active lifestyle.

Essex welcomes Sport England Chair to see their ground-breaking work to get more people active

On 21 September 2018, we hosted an all-day visit from Nick Bitel, Chair of Sport England. The visit provided an opportunity for Nick to meet some of the people involved in the Local Delivery Pilot and our thanks go to the CEOs and local leads in Basildon, Tendring and Colchester who worked with us to coordinate a packed programme of learning.

Sport England gives Essex a game changing opportunity to transform local sport and physical activity provision

Essex, one of the UK’s largest and most diverse counties beat off competition from over 100 other bids to become one of only 12 places in the country to be part of this game changing initiative. Around £100million of National Lottery funding will be invested in the 12 Local Delivery Pilot schemes over four years, to create innovative partnerships that make it easier for people in these communities to access sport and physical activity.
