‘Let’s Keep Moving’ is a free, friendly and welcoming group which encourages older adults to keep active in the Clacton community.

The laid-back sessions are led by a Let’s Keep Moving Exercise Professional, and focus on a different topic each week such as:

  • Feeling good
  • Weight management
  • Increasing your confidence
  • Managing stress

Class regular David (aged 64) who has been taking part in the Let’s Keep Moving sessions after being prescribed by his local GP, said:

“Taking part in exercise or physical activity on your own can feel a bit overwhelming. The Let’s Keep Moving’ group can support you with the tools and confidence to develop a healthier and more positive lifestyle – as well as providing the chance to socialise and make new friends in a relaxed environment.

“The best thing about the group is that everybody is supportive of each other. I joined the group to lose weight and get fitter, but I have received so many more benefits.

“The sessions have not only helped me improve my health and wellbeing, but also helped me to clear my mind and make new friends.”

Bridie (aged 75) who has also been taking part in the regular sessions, said:

“I love coming to my weekly fitness class with friends. I was a little anxious to join the group at first but then I went along with a friend and haven’t looked back since. We take part in a range of stretching activities which is definitely making me more agile in my everyday life. The sessions encourage me to be more active at home and go on more regular walks!”

Loraine who is the project co-ordinator said:

“The project, which formed on the eve of summer 2018, is a friendly and welcoming group for adults aged over 50 looking to get and stay active. We’re in the community dealing with people who are trying to get back into exercise. The classes are very low impact with some stretching, improving posture, conditioning, fat-burning – nothing too strenuous and very enjoyable!”.
