In line with the recent Government and Public Health England advice, the Active Essex and LDP team have from today moved to home working. Individual team members will remain available and responsive to our partners and stakeholders. We are fully equipped to work from home, connect with you online, talk to you, and continue to work with you. Contact details of team members are available on our website.

The Active Essex and LDP team recognise that the Covid-19 outbreak is an exceptional event that is having a serious impact on our network of partners and stakeholders that are working with us to improve lives through sport and physical activity. We want to offer our assurance that we stand together with you during these challenging times.

We want to do everything we can to ensure the coronavirus crisis doesn’t impact on people’s physical activity levels provided they are well enough. Staying physically active during this period is more important than ever to maintain physical health, manage stress and anxiety, and to generally make you feel better.

We have already begun to pull together tips and guidance on how to stay active during this time. There is wealth of free online content to help you stay active which will be available via our website and social media channels. Please share what you are doing with us on social media using #KeepingActiveAtHome and suggest others to connect with us.

Working with our Partners:

We wish to be as supportive and helpful as possible during the coming weeks and months. We understand that priorities are changing rapidly in this fast-moving situation, with the priority being the protection and support of vulnerable people in our communities. If you have a funding or partnership agreement with Active Essex or the LDP, we will be understanding and flexible about your circumstances. Our key priorities are to support the sport and physical activity sector across Essex and encourage people to stay active.

We are committed to working with partners who receive funding or support from us on a case by case basis to look at:

  •  Adapting delivery/ activities: we recognise that you may experience difficulties achieving some of the outputs or outcomes we agreed for your investment during the Covid-19 outbreak. Please get in touch with us to discuss your circumstances and to agree any changes to the original plans.
  • Deadlines: we don’t want to add pressure, so if the timings of your work need to change from what was previously agreed – please discuss with us the changes you might need to make and we will support you to do that
  • Financial flexibility: we know you may need to use funding to deliver your services differently and we will work with you to understand your changing funding priorities.
  • Listening to you: please get in touch with us when the time is right for you. You can do this via your main point of contact with Active Essex and the LDP team

We will provide regular communication updates to our network of partners and stakeholders during this Covid-19 situation via our e-newsletter, social media channels, and website.

Kind Regards,

Azeem Akhtar, Chairman of Active Essex
