UECS Essex Sport

Essex Sport provides a full range of sporting and physical activity facilities, classes and activities for students and staff at the University of Essex, as well as to the wider local community. Recent investments in facilities include the new £12M Essex Sport Arena, a new covered 4-court tennis facility, a recent expansion of the Essex Sport Gym with a new functional training zone, and the addition of virtual classes to our fitness studios.

 Essex Sport are now looking to recruit an accomplished Football Development Officer on a 1 year fixed-term basis, to lead and drive the development of a University Grassroots Hub.

Duties of the Role

The Football Development Officer will work in partnership with a range of internal and external partners to plan, coordinate and deliver a comprehensive football and futsal participation engagement programme which promotes new opportunities for students, staff and the local community to participate in football.

Responsibilities will include providing matrix management to the Football Activators; agreeing and monitoring work programmes, leading on multi-agency meetings to develop a collaborative approach to the development of football, ensuring that all football and futsal activities comply with GDPR regulation and providing targeted interventions to support young individuals entering the Essex FA education pathway.

Skills and Qualifications required

The successful candidate will be educated to a minimum of GCSE level, including in Mathematics and English and will ideally hold a UKCC Level 2 football coaching qualification or equivalent. You will have an understanding of the FA, national game strategy and regional organisational structure, along with experience of working with young individuals and the current issues affecting young individuals in football.

It is essential that you have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, proven written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail and a proven ability to manage multiple projects.
