I am 60 years old and have 5 grandchildren. I work full time in central London in IT but my true passion is in the fitness industry. I qualified as a Level 2 fitness instructor 9 years ago when I was 51 and a Pilates instructor 4 years later. I have since studied and qualified in Nutrition, Back Pain Management, Pilates for Orthopaedic Conditions and Fitness Testing.
I currently teach classes in my spare time in Coggeshall but have taught in most of the places I have worked in my IT contracts. I was at the DVLA in Swansea for two years and introduced Pilates to my colleagues and taught in my lunch hour, I also covered for an instructor in the hotel I was staying in. l love helping and educating people on the benefits of getting and keeping fit .
I have recently started a running group in Coggeshall and have been overwhelmed and inspired by the response and energy of all the participants. We started in February as complete novices and are now running 3 times per week and running at least 3 miles each time.
The following few sentences sum up my beliefs around exercise:
- You don’t need to jump up and down and go bright red to keep or get fit.
- The hardest part of any exercise is walking through the door the first time you go.
- Be brave and your body will repay you.
- Exercise should always be enjoyed, if you don’t like what you are doing try something else.
