Essex Schools take their first steps towards a happier, healthier future. Recognising the success of Elaine Wyllie’s ‘The Daily Mile’ in terms of increasing the activity levels of young people in Scotland, Active Essex is keen to encourage ALL Essex Schools to introduce the Daily Mile into their school life.
The Daily Mile initiative is fully inclusive, simple to organise, requires no additional specialist equipment or staff and takes just 15mins to complete. The most important thing is that it is repeated daily. Active Essex have developed a booklet and a short film to provide schools with information and support on how to get involved. We would like schools to let us know they are involved by completing and returning the Footfall form (included in the schools pack), each half term. Schools involved will then be in with the chance to win incentive prizes which include vouchers and fitness tracking. Let’s all take that first step in the right direction and across the County, walk towards a healthier and happier future. Useful link: thedailymile.co.uk
