Active Essex thanks everyone who has organised, volunteered at or taken part in Community Games since the programme’s inception in 2012.
Through your enthusiasm and participation, you have shown that Essex is committed to keeping the London 2012 flame burning – and to building an Olympic legacy we can all be proud of.
2015 – Highlights
2015 was a fantastic year for the Community Games in Essex, with over 61 events funded: the highest number in the UK.
2014 – Highlights
- The 2014 Writtle Village Fair in Chelmsford, with over 2000 participants.
- KATS Colchester Netball Youth Rally.
- The Manningtree Mud Festival.
- The Rowhedge Regatta.
- The Harlow festival and sports day for the disabled.
- The YMCA Rollerskate event in Rochford and Southend-on-Sea.
Plus many, many town shows, family fun days, street parties, local festivals, village and school fetes, urban games, holiday clubs and camping weekends across the county.
2013 – Highlights
The Urban Games at Saffron Walden Skate Park (video below).
The Wild Woods day in Rochford, with over 3000 participants.
2012 – Highlights
During the summer of 2012, Community Games events were delivered by schools, churches and residents associations across Essex, allowing local communities to take part in activities including archery, dodgeball, film-making, flower-arranging, music and picnics.
