English Federation of Disability Sport

Disability4Sport provide a wide range of sporting opportunities and activities that are aimed at engaging and empowering disabled people of all ages and abilities, with the intention of improving physical health and mental well-being. The Lions Clubs run an annual Mid-Summer Sports Day and Fun Festival for Disabled People. This is an all day festival in Benfleet for the benefit of those who suffer from any form of disability where a host of sporting and other associated events are organised. Essex currently has 7 clubs running disability cricket. The majority of those who take part have physical or learning difficulties but it is hoped that anyone with a disability will be able to take part in Cricket across Essex. Sport for Confidence supports people with and without learning disabilities to participate in a variety of sporting activities. This is a unique partnership between healthcare professionals, leisure centres and local sports clubs and sees Occupational Therapists working directly with sports coaches to make adjustments that create truly accessible sport & leisure opportunities.
