The Children’s Health Project supports schools to develop their physical and mental health and wellbeing offer, ensuring they meet all the national expectations in their curricular and extra-curricular approaches, and offer pupils an outstanding method for establishing and developing health routines. Based on four pillars of health and wellbeing – Healthy Movement, Healthy Eating, Healthy Habits and Healthy Thoughts, our schools address physical and mental health with a positive, preventative and holistic approach. Schools that run the Project comment that we save teachers’ time, reduce workload and offer a holistic guide to making healthy choices and meeting pupils’ needs.

The Health Ambassador system is a simple year long support programme, where a school identifies a member of staff (the Health Ambassador) who will passionately promote improvement in PE, Science, PSHE and Food Technology lessons, assemblies, clubs and interventions, using our philosophy and resources. The Health Ambassador could be a senior leader, a teacher, a coach or a member of support staff (often the PE lead/coach, PSHE lead, Healthy Schools co-ordinator or SENCo).

Health Ambassadors attend two days of training, receive our 160 lesson Scheme of Work, and become part of our Health Ambassador network of schools. The Health Ambassador role fits seamlessly into current roles in school, without too much of a time expectation, and would suit anyone looking to engage in a new focus for their professional development/performance management.
