“My name is Suzanne, and I am an ambassador for This Girl Can and also a mum to two little girls.

After my first daughter I found it quite easy to get back into fitness and running and attended mum and baby fitness classes, but now I’ve had my second I’ve found it more difficult.

My advice would be: Don’t put pressure on yourself to “bounce straight back” once you’ve had a baby. Take it slow. Try to make time to exercise even if it is for 10/15 minutes at a time. A 10/15-minute run or exercise class online helps me feel positive for the day. Now my little one is older I can get out for 30 mins or so and I’ve even invested in a running buggy so I can start doing some longer runs and take baby with me whilst me 3-year-old goes to preschool.

Fitness makes me feel empowered and makes me feel positive for the rest of the day. I have much more energy when I work out. Physical activity is so good for mental health and helps strengthens your body for picking up baby/ toys, playing and running around with toddlers!

My three-year-old often now joins in online fitness classes at home with me and I love seeing her try to copy the moves. I hope that she will continue to do this and see fitness as a way of life, a way of getting strong not only physically but mentally too.

Find an exercise you enjoy – this is so important- yes it can be tough when you start out but if you enjoy something it will make it so much easier to make it a habit rather than a chore. This could be running, dancing, walking, yoga etc.”
