Friday 24th and Saturday 25th May will see the return of the Ford RideLondon Classique, an opportunity for you to see the world’s best female cyclists competing on Essex roads. Previously a one-day race in London, the event is now a three-day stage race involving two stunning stages in Essex and a final stage in the heart of the capital.
Sunday 26th May it’s the turn of 25,000 amateur cyclists, who will take to the saddle either for the 100, 60 or 30 mile route, in a bid to raise millions of pounds for charity. Whether you’re supporting a family member or friend taking part, or would just like to cheer on the riders, the county has plenty of great viewpoints to spectate. Even if cycling is not your thing, there are many fan zones and local events taking place across the route, over the course of the weekend with additional activities that will keep you and the family entertained for the whole day!
We’d advise you to stay local or park away from the route and walk/ cycle in, due to many closed and affected roads. The Ford RideLondon-Essex route spans across 65 miles of Essex roads, so if you can’t get to an activation zone, and you’re on the route, enjoy the race from your front gardens, village greens or local town.
Ford RideLondon-Essex will bring communities together, so head out to support your local businesses, find out about community initiatives, get to know your neighbours and rally on those who are taking part in the 60 and 100-mile challenge!
Activation zones will take place across the three days, with family friendly activities, refreshments and entertainment in the following locations:
Friday
- Market Square, Saffron Walden
- Castle Park, Colchester
Saturday
- Promenade Park, Maldon
Sunday
- Epping High Street
- Chipping Ongar High Street
- Great Dunmow High Street
- Writtle Green, Chelmsford
