One organisation cannot do this alone. Delivering the ambitious county-wide 10-year Physical Activity and Sport strategy, will require the efforts of thousands of Greater Essex organisations to pull in the same direction. Active Essex look forward to working cohesively with partners and stakeholders, to strengthen communities and provide physical activity and sport opportunities for everyone.

As of June 2021, there were over 1.6 million people living in Greater Essex and 901,000 are active adults who participate in over 150 minutes of physical activity per week. Together, we want to increase this number, unite in one direction and over the next 10 years, create an active Essex to improve everyone’s health and wellbeing.

We now need to continue to build upon the strengths in our local communities, help provide the tools to enable our young people to have the best and most healthy start to life, work collectively to develop connected and accessible places and spaces, enable and empower people to do things for themselves for good physical and mental wellbeing, and continue to work to increase physical activity and sport opportunities for everyone in our county.

The time is right, the time is now, and together Essex will be Fit for the Future.
