1 in 10 adults, alongside 1 in 6 children and young people in Essex are living with poor mental health
Find Your Active: Move For Your Mind brings about a new chapter from the successful Find Your Active campaign; a county-wide movement, inspiring people of all ages and abilities across the county to discover and enjoy ways to get moving – whether that be getting out in the garden, a short walk, social bike ride or a friendly game of football. It celebrates the fact that everyone can enjoy the huge benefits of moving more, it’s just about finding what’s right for you.
Building on that momentum, Find Your Active: Move For Your Mind, powered by Essex Public Health, brings a fresh lens to the initiative by highlighting the powerful connection between physical activity and mental wellbeing. Whether it’s a gentle walk in nature, a dance class with friends, or a calming yoga session, this campaign celebrates movement as a tool, not just for physical health, but as a catalyst for improving mood, reducing stress and building resilience.
Working in Partnership with Mind in Essex
We’re thrilled to launch a new partnership between Find Your Active: Move for your Mind and Mind in Essex, to champion the powerful connection between physical activity and mental wellbeing.
At a time when many people are looking for ways to manage stress, boost their mood, and feel more connected, this partnership brings together expertise in mental health with a passion for helping people discover movement that genuinely supports their wellbeing. You don’t need to be sporty or start big. Even small bursts of activity or just getting outside for a short stroll can lift your spirits, calm your mind, and build resilience.
Together, we’ll be creating opportunities across Essex for people to explore movement in ways that feel enjoyable, accessible, and mentally nourishing. From gentle walks and beginner‑friendly sessions to supportive community events, our shared aim is to help more people experience the mental health benefits of being active. By combining our strengths, we hope to empower individuals to take those first steps, find what works for them, and feel the positive impact that movement can have on everyday life.
