Launching on the 1st September 2026 and powered through a partnership between Active Essex and the London Marathon Foundation, this forward-thinking programme is designed to support organisations from within. Through a deep dive into your organisation, we’ll take the time to understand how you operate, recognise your strengths, and identify opportunities for growth.

Whether you’re looking to refine internal processes, invest in your people, strengthen governance, or build long-term resilience and sustainability, Resilience+ is here to support your development journey.

Resilience+ is open to organisations that are committed to improving health and wellbeing through sport and physical activity across Essex.

What is the Resilience+ Programme

To apply for the Resilience+ programme, it’s important you read and follow the following criteria:

What can the Resilience+ support?

Resilience+ is designed to support organisational development, helping organisations become stronger, more sustainable and better equipped for future challenges and opportunities.

Unlike traditional programmes, Resilience+ does not support the direct delivery of physical activity sessions. Instead, it focuses on strengthening the foundations of your organisation so you can maximise your long-term impact.

Support may be awarded to:

  • Staff and volunteer development
  • Improving governance and leadership structures
  • Strengthening internal systems and processes
  • Building organisational resilience and sustainability
  • Diversifying funding streams and income generation
  • Strategic planning and business development
  • Fundraising capacity building
  • Improving workforce wellbeing and organisational culture

Through a tailored support journey, we’ll work with you to identify the areas that will make the biggest difference to your organisation’s future success.

Who can apply?

To be eligible, organisations must:

  • Be actively involved in sport and/or physical activity as part of their regular operations or service delivery.
  • Deliver services, programmes or initiatives that promote active lifestyles and improve physical wellbeing.
  • Demonstrate a desire to strengthen their organisation and increase their long-term sustainability.
  • Be willing to engage in an organisational development journey over a 12-month period.
  • Operate within the Essex County Council footprint (if applicable to the programme).

This programme is particularly suited to organisations that are looking to build capacity, strengthen leadership, improve systems and processes, or prepare for future growth.
