The last Women Like Us festival went down a storm! We had a great time virtually coming together to celebrate all women for International Women’s Day 2021! Stay tuned for more information on our next festivals, but see what’s happened previously, below!

Our festivals may look slightly different at the moment…but have no fear, we are bringing it back bigger and better!
Our Women Like Us festival returns for another a virtual fun packed evening! International Women’s Day falls on Monday 8th March and we want to celebrate it together (but virtually!). Workout sessions will be taking place via Facebook live and the Keep Essex Active channel!

HIIT Website Instructor

Join Chloe, one half of the Townsend Twins on the This Girl Can Essex facebook page to kick start International Women’s Day with a HIIT workout for everyone to enjoy! So join in our community on Facebook, whilst on your lunch break!

GROOVE AEROBICS

This session will take place on the This Girl Can Essex Facebook page, live with Lindsey from Shimmy’n’Groove. Shimmy’n’Groove Aerobics is a combination of simple, old school aerobic actions designed to energise. Using sing along tunes, you’ll leave the session feeling fabulous in the skin you’re in!

PILATES

Join Anna from Animated Physio as she helps you to move more, feel better and banish those aches and pains!

HIITSTEP

Hiitstep is a HIIT class using a step! Designed by olympians to get the best out of you. Pumping music by top DJ’s, to help keep you motivated!

Clubland Combat

Join This Fit Mum Lisa, for Clubland Combat, which is a high energy boxercise style class to clubland classics! This class is great fun and will definitely leave you wanting more!

Meditation

Anxiety and stress, we’ve all been there – you talk yourself up. As you walk into the gym or work, insecurity can sink in. You’re not alone! This session with Stress and Anxiety Specialist Shelley Stel, will help you understand the bodies response to anxiety and how you can start to take control back, with quick, simple relaxation exercises.

Mummy Fitness

This class is designed specifically for post natal women, but everyone is welcome to join in! Lara will start with a warm up and then move on to some low impact cardio to get the heart pumping, but no jumping and finish with some post natal safe core. This class is suitable for women 6-8 weeks post natal, but please don’t do anything that doesn’t feel quite right – listen to your body!

Strength balance

Karen’s class will bring the best of core Pilates, together with great body weight resistance exercises, to work your whole body and get you sweaty! If you love Pilates, but wish you got to work a little bit harder, then this class is for you!

Wellbeing & Exercise

Sadie, works in occupational health psychology and workplace wellbeing and would like to discuss with you ways in which you can lead a safe active lifestyle and how to overcome barriers to exercise.

Missfits Becky

MissFits Dance workout offers dance-based exercise for those who don’t feel at home at the gym! Becky is a plus sized fitness instructor who promotes a fat positive safe space for everyone. A great introduction to dance based exercise as you can tailor your workout to a level that suits you!

Quirky Hitt

Lisanne’s HIIT class is a 30 minute progression session, with various options available for different fitness levels. A total body weight exercise focusing on arms, legs and core! This class is not suitable for pregnant ladies, but lower options are available for those ladies who have had their postnatal check and ready to start some exercise!

Yoga

Arlene will take you through a 30 minute Hatha Yoga session of slow and mindful movements, with options offered to tailor and adapt to ensure movements feel comfortable to you. The session is designed to allow the body to rest and recover from more the more active classes, by encouraging ease in the joints and muscles. A perfect way to end the festival! If you have a yoga mat that would be great, if not a towel or blanket is fine.
