By supporting National Walking Month, partners can help make walking for mental wellbeing more visible, normal and achievable across Essex. Walking is one of the most accessible ways to support physical and mental wellbeing, and small, consistent actions taken across different settings and communities can collectively make a meaningful difference.
Sport England’s Adult Active Lives Survey shows that walking for leisure has dipped slightly over the past 12 months (down by around 184,000 people, or 0.9%) and remains below pre‑pandemic levels. This highlights the importance of re‑encouraging walking as a regular habit.
This campaign is designed to be delivered in partnership, with shared learning, resources and tools to support your involvement.
Below, you’ll find campaign resources alongside practical guidance on how to use them effectively.
