Richard is great at explaining Karate. His first workout is a beginners session, in which he will walk you through some of the basic moves in Karate. His second 2 videos will be aimed at young people, to give them an idea of what Karate is all about!

Chelmsford Karate Club, established in 1967, is run by Sensei Jane & Sensei Richard Naylor-Jones. Jane is a ‘This Girl Can’ Ambassador and Richard an All Together Ambassador).

Sensei Jane (5th Dan) and Sensei Richard (5th Dan), are Long Standing Members of the Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB), qualified KUGB Instructors, Senior Assessors and are fully DBS checked. Together they are committed to the highest standard of teaching.

Anyone from aged 4 years upwards, with no upper age limit for adults, can start to learn Karate. The Club is inclusive with a large number of people with disabilities who train in inclusive classes. As a Fitness in Mind UK Club they are committed to the mental & physical wellbeing of their members. Chelmsford Karate Club stress the importance of true Karate spirit to our students and, to this end, emphasis is always placed on the development of the disciplines of Character, Sincerity, Effort, Etiquette and Self Control. It is because of this training that our students attain such high standards.

The Club have strong links with Active Essex and in recent years have won awards at their Annual Sport Awards: Unsung Hero to Sensei Dot Naylor, ‘Young Sports Personality of the Year’ to one of our World Champions Mia Hillsden, ‘Ambassador of the Year’ to Sensei Richard Naylor-Jones and ‘Coach of the Year’ to Sensei Jane Naylor-Jones.

Chelmsford Karate Club, with Jane, Richard and their daughter Megan (2nd Dan) , quickly adapted to the Government lock down in March and started delivering a weekly schedule of successful online classes to keep people active in their homes.
