This March, we’re incredibly proud to shine a spotlight on a truly inspiring young person: Esme Jarmyn-Purvis, our Move With Us “Move Maker” Award winner. At just 15 years old, Esme has already made an extraordinary impact within JTD Arts, showing leadership, empathy, and commitment well beyond her years.
For the past three years, Esme has been an integral part of the JTD Arts community. As a young leader, she brings energy, creativity, and warmth to everything she supports, including holiday and food programmes, dance classes, events, and workshops. Younger children naturally look up to her, inspired by her calm confidence and her genuine care for their wellbeing.
Esme has a truly special gift for supporting children with special educational needs. Her patience, ability to listen, and thoughtful guidance help create an environment where every child feels welcome and valued. She is always coming up with new ideas to help make sessions more engaging, inclusive, and fun for everyone involved.
What makes Esme’s contribution even more exceptional is her resilience. Despite facing her own serious health challenges, including periods of illness that have required hospital care, she never loses sight of her passion for helping others. Even during her toughest times, she continues to think of ways to encourage younger children to be motivated, confident, and excited about their futures.
Beyond her leadership, Esme is an exceptional friend and daughter, kind, caring, supportive, and deeply admired by so many around her. Countless young children aspire to follow in her footsteps, not just because of what she does, but because of who she is.
Esme embodies everything the Move Maker Award celebrates: compassion, determination, creativity, and a genuine commitment to lifting others up. Her impact is felt throughout her community, and her light continues to shine brighter with every challenge she overcomes.
