Cheryl’s journey with RWL (Results Wellness Lifestyle) began five years ago during the COVID 19 lockdown. Like many, she was stuck at home, searching for ways to stay active and sane until she stumbled upon RWL, an Essex-based fitness app, and it quickly became a cornerstone of her daily routine. RWL offers more than just workouts; it includes recipes, mindset tools, and a supportive community that Cheryl describes as “one of the most uplifting spaces I’ve ever been part of”.
Earlier this year, RWL recognised Cheryl’s dedication and support within the app and invited her to become a Community Champion. Alongside seven other women, Cheryl volunteers to answer questions about all thing’s fitness, food, and wellbeing. She also supports a specific weight loss group, drawing on her experience from working in NHS weight management services. This role is a source of pride for Cheryl, as she continues to help others make healthy, sustainable changes.
Excitement built as Cheryl prepared for the big RWL Fitness Day in Kenilworth. She brought along her friend Heidi, who had joined RWL last year after seeing Cheryl’s enthusiasm and results. Their drive to Kenilworth was smooth, and they checked into their hotel, only to find their room smelt like perm solution, reminiscent of a 90s hair salon. Despite this, they decided to head to the pub and enjoy the sunny afternoon in the beer garden.
While at the pub, Cheryl experienced a surreal moment when Jo from the app recognised her. Cheryl and Heidi joined Jo and five other RWL members, all of whom Cheryl recognised from Zoom workouts and community chats, Cheryl expressed that “Meeting these women in person was emotional and felt like reconnecting with old friends.”
The next day, Cheryl and Heidi woke up early for the Fitness Day, which ran from 10am to 4pm, with three classes every hour. Cheryl was fortunate to get all her top choices, while Heidi initially got her third choices. However, Cheryl managed to work her magic and get Heidi’s classes swapped. The day involved resistance training, boxing, bands, bootcamp, Clubbercise, Zumba, and TimeTunnel – all different ways of working out and getting the blood pumping. The atmosphere was empowering, with around 100 women of various ages, shapes, and fitness levels moving and laughing together. Although Cheryl’s Apple Watch gave up halfway through the day and she was unable to track her progress, she soldiered on.
After the final class, Cheryl and Heidi headed to the bar for a refreshing beverage and more conversations with RWL members. They finally got moved to a new room, one that didn’t smell like a hair salon and had a TV remote. The highlight of the evening’s Dress to Impress event was Cheryl leading a dance routine to “It’s Raining Men,” which was met with laughter and applause. One of the instructors even joked that Cheryl might have a future as a fitness instructor…
The next morning, Cheryl and Heidi were pleasantly surprised to find they were only a bit achy, as they tucked into breakfast and bumped into more RWL members, all moving a bit slower but still smiling. They took a walk around the beautiful Kenilworth Park before heading home, reflecting on the brilliant and rewarding weekend they’d just had.
Cheryl is already looking forward to the next RWL fitness day and is considering the RWL retreats in Portugal. Since her experience she has been nominated by other members as ‘Member of the Month,’ which means she gets to go to the RWL head office and record a workout with one of the trainers for the app. Cheryl is excited about this opportunity and plans to record it in the next couple of months.
Cheryl’s experience at the RWL Fitness Day in Kenilworth was a testament to the power of community, support, and shared passion for wellness. Her journey with RWL continues to inspire and uplift those around her.
