Harrison – July Move Maker

Move Maker

Harrison has been named a Move Maker Award winner for July for his outstanding positivity and growth through sport.

Over the last 18 months, Harrison has attended BoxSmart at Witham Leisure Centre and become a vital member of the inclusive football programme. Despite the challenges of accessing suitable physical activity opportunities due to his complex additional needs, Harrison has embraced every opportunity to get involved.

His passion for sport and positive attitude inspires those around him, while his participation has helped build confidence, support new friendships, and contribute to improvements both in and out of school. Harrison is a truly deserving recipient of this award.

Tom Paget from The Reach Group, who nominated Harrison for the award, has seen first-hand the positive impact that physical activity has had on his development and the influence he has on others taking part in the sessions.

“Harrison loves being involved in sport and his positivity rubs off on everyone around him and inspires the other young people in the cohort who also have additional needs. Since taking part in these group sports sessions, he has also shown improvements in all aspects of his life, now being able to partake in maths and English exams as well as making new friends in and out of school. Mum states that the family are so proud of him and he is showing how much of an amazing young man he is.”

Harrison’s journey demonstrates the transformative impact that inclusive physical activity can have, not only on a young person’s physical wellbeing but also on their confidence.
