This month, we’re delighted to recognise Miriam Ibiayo as Move Maker for May as part of our Move With Us campaign. This recognition comes off the back of her outstanding recent contributions as one of our Ambassadors and her commitment to completing her Duke of Edinburgh Award through the programme. Miriam has embraced every opportunity presented to her and has shown great levels of dedication to making a difference for children and young people across Greater Essex.
Through her involvement in the Move With Us Ambassador Programme, Miriam has demonstrated a strong passion for increasing opportunities in physical activity and sport. After attending one of our recent Get Togethers, she shared thoughtful reflections with us around the importance of reducing barriers and creating more inclusive environments where young people feel able to take part. Her voice has also been valuable to us in highlighting how we can continue to improve access and engagement across our work.
Miriam has shown a deep passion towards ensuring that all children and young people, regardless of their background or ability, can access sport and physical activity in a positive and welcoming way. Her commitment strongly aligns with our ambitions at Active Essex to create a more active and inclusive county.
As well as providing insight through her role as an Ambassador, Miriam has also supported our local work in Thurrock. She has played a key role in engaging with young people through interactive focus groups within Essex ActivAte holiday and food provision (HAF) clubs, helping to gather important insights on physical activity, active travel and wellbeing. The information she has helped to collect has been shared within locality meetings, contributing to a stronger understanding of local needs and helping to shape future provision.
Her positive attitude and willingness to support others make her a fantastic role model. Miriam consistently shows initiative, enthusiasm and a genuine desire to make a difference, embodying the values of the Ambassador Programme and Active Essex as a whole.
