Tommy – January Move Maker

Move Maker

We are proud to recognise Tommy Ralph as our first Move Maker of 2026, celebrating his determination, positivity and commitment to sport throughout the past year.

The Move Maker Award is part of the Active Essex #MoveWithUs campaign, celebrating young people who play a vital role in supporting others to feel more positive about physical activity and become more active.

Tommy has long been a valued member of several sports teams, taking part in indoor and outdoor athletics, cross country and football. His passion for sport has shaped the way he approaches challenges, allowing him to transfer the skills he has learned such as discipline, resilience and teamwork into all areas of his life.

Recently, Tommy has been on a Tics and Tourette’s pathway supported by Great Ormond Street Hospital, facing obstacles that would test anyone. Yet he has continued to persevere, using the confidence and mindset he has developed through sport to overcome personal barriers and keep pushing forward.

A standout moment came when Tommy secured a gold medal in the long jump at the Borough Athletics competition, a brilliant achievement and a highlight of what has been both a challenging and rewarding year for him.

Tommy consistently embodies the School Games values of teamwork, respect, honesty, determination, passion and self-belief. These qualities are ingrained in who he is, and he demonstrates them in everything he takes on.

He is a true credit to himself and his family.

Tommy is an outstanding example of how the power of sport can shape character, build resilience and inspire confidence. His determination and positive attitude, even when facing personal challenges, truly set him apart. We are incredibly proud to celebrate his achievements and name him our January Move Maker. Tommy’s journey reminds us why creating opportunities for young people to be active is so important.”
