Free food and activities for children and young people this summer.
Families across Essex and Thurrock can now book clubs for the summer holidays. The clubs give children opportunities to stay active, try new sport and enjoy healthy meals in a safe and supportive environment. Free places are primarily available for children who get income-related Free School Meals (FSM).
They will get a Holiday Activities voucher code sent directly through their school. This means they can get priority access for bookings. Activities include a mix of sport and physical activity, creative and enrichment sessions, and fun food education. This helps children build confidence, make friends and develop new skills.
Bookings for the summer programme are now open. View more here!
Councillor Chris Hossack, Essex County Council Cabinet Member for residents and community services said:
“Our free holiday clubs are more important than ever. Not only do they make sure children most at need are being fed over the holidays, they also give fun and enriching opportunities too.
“For working families, the clubs also offer childcare support, which we all know is much needed during the longer school holiday.”
At Easter, Essex ActivAte ran 224 activity clubs across Essex and Thurrock. Almost 7000 children benefitted, including over 1200 children with SEND needs. For more information on eligibility, booking and session availability, visit the Essex ActivAte website.
