The annual Essex Activity Awards is once again returning to celebrate those who have made incredible achievements through physical activity and wellbeing across Greater Essex.
With nominations now open, it is a chance to recognise inspiring individuals, clubs, schools, organisations and employers who are driving a more active, healthy, and vibrant county, bringing their stories and impact into the spotlight.
Dr William Bird MBE, Chair of Active Essex said:
“We believe that living a healthy, active life shouldn’t be out of reach for anyone. That’s why we are working together across the county to make physical activity a part of everyday life. So much of our work is inspired by incredible individuals whose actions motivate us to go further, by challenging ourselves, supporting each other, and using physical activity and sport as a force for positive change.”
New categories have been introduced this year such as the Find Your Active Wellbeing Award and the Move With Us Champion Award.
The Find Your Active Wellbeing Award recognises an instructor, organisation, or group that has made a meaningful impact on mental wellbeing through physical activity. This category, new for 2025 ties in closely with Active Essex and Essex Public Health’s campaign Find Your Active: Move for your Mind. It highlights how movement can support mental health and emotional wellbeing.
The Move With Us Champion category will celebrate a young person who inspires others to be active, whether that’s through volunteering, or promoting physical activity in their community, school or club.
Popular categories remain, such as ‘Unsung Hero’ and ‘Sports Club of the Year’ celebrating those who make a real difference through sport and physical activity in the community. Whether you want to nominate a motivating coach, a dedicated volunteer, an innovative school or a welcoming community group that use sport to bring people together, this is your chance to provide them with the recognition they deserve.
Nominations must be submitted by midnight on Sunday, 28th September 2025 to ensure your nomination is counted.
