A Superhero Tri helps keep Essex inspired

One Million Lives

During these unprecedented times it has been important for us to stay motivated. Billy Ray Mansell has used the last few months to inspire others to participate in physical activity at home by encouraging his social media followers and friends to join in the Sphere Challenge, The Daily MileTM at Home, 3030 Essex and his At Home Superhero challenges. Billy is an Essex All Together ambassador who strives to encourage inclusive sport and physical activity and inspires others to get involved.

Although Billy, an Essex All Together ambassador, lives with a long-term health condition, this doesn’t stop him from getting out and getting active and inspiring others to join him on his journey. On his birthday he took on the ultimate Triathlon challenge dressed as Spiderman. His son is often pictured as his sidekick and helps drive him to continue.

Billy said: “As an ambassador of Essex All Together programme, I find it so important to inspire and encourage participation of physical activity. During the Coronavirus pandemic I wanted to help support the Active Essex Foundation charity who support vulnerable young people across Essex, so my activities have been to fundraise for them. Getting involved in the many campaigns has been because I want to raise awareness and inspire more people to become active, because it helps and benefits us all.”

Over the course of the Superhero Triathlon day Billy completed the swim, run and cycle on his own, with support from family and friends. Billy’s efforts during the lockdown period has been an inspiration to us all and is a worthy winner of our July One in a Million award.
