Congratulations to Jamie McKagan, our Essex Activity Hero from Basildon. Read and be inspired by their story below:
Jamie McKagan was never going to leave her McKagan Warrior Women during lockdown. She instead turned to Zoom to still allow her members the chance to keep moving from the comfort of their own homes.
McKagan Warrior Women is a physical self-defence MMA class for women of all ages and backgrounds, based in Billericay. McKagan is a revolutionary way to get fit whilst learning a potentially life-saving skill at the same time. The club has developed as it became more popular, to now offer other training such as strength and resistance, kettlebells and HIIT.
One of McKagan’ s members said: “The way Jamie adapted her classes to provide the sessions over zoom was amazing and helped us all stay sane and active!”
The McKagan Warrior Women community is closer than ever and together, (but apart) are holding a charity event. Many are participating in personal marathons to see how many they can complete in 2 weeks, all in aid of Stopcocks National Register of Trades Women.
Another McKagan member said: “Jamie really is a selfless hero that has helped so many women. Her passion is infectious and despite lockdown, she is going from strength to strength. Without Jamie, I myself would be in a much darker place.”
Thank you Active Basildon for choosing this story!
