I’m 21-year-old Harry Mayhead.

When I was younger, I was diagnosed with Autism, Dyslexia, ADHD, and Hypermobility and found it hard to fit in. After I was taken out of school, I fell in love with football, but my local club wasn’t very inclusive and didn’t understand my needs.

After attending a special school in Colchester, I fell back in love with the sport, ended up playing for Ipswich Town disability team and trailed for the England Learning difficulties team. It just proves that with the right understanding, inclusion and the right environment, anyone can thrive.

I’m now the Head Coach of The Multi-Schools Council Football club; I just want to give kids the understanding and patience I needed when I was their age, to enjoy the sport or activity they love. I think it’s important for people of all abilities to be as active and as healthy as we can, without judgement or exclusion. I believe that everyone should have the right to enjoy the activity they love no matter what.
