Move With Us Leaders Academy

What will you be a part of?

The programme empowers young people through volunteering in community sport, helping them gain experience, build confidence, and develop key skills for life and future careers—all while being supported and recognised for their contributions.

Who is the programme for?

This programme is for young people aged 12-18 years old who have either attended a community sports club, Essex ActivAte or Active Essex Foundation club, and are now ready to step into a more responsible and active role in leadership. Schools can also get involved in the programme and put forward young people who wish to take part as well.

The Move With Us Leaders Academy will allow young people to:

Recognition for volunteering at your local club

Introductory Level – Foundation Award

Recognising engagement in the programme for up to six weeks. Young leaders will receive:

• A Certificate of Completion to mark their participation
• A Logbook to document their experiences
• A Reference Letter highlighting their contributions and growth

Advanced Level – Leadership Milestone

Celebrating ongoing and consistent volunteer efforts at a local club. Young leaders will continue developing their skills while earning:

• MWULA Badges to add to their lanyard, that demonstrate the programme principles
• A Formal Recognition Letter endorsed by Essex County Council Year Of Opportunities, recognising their dedication and achievements

The Move With Us Leaders Academy will also support young people through:

• Offering resources and opportunities through our MWU leaders academy resource page  
• Opportunities to upskill, build confidence, skills and enhance their CV
  
• Links to our MWU ambassador programme looking to enhance young voices and leadership
• Gain a reference to support future endeavour
   

As part of the wider offer, the young people engaged in this academy, will be asked to join the cohort of Move With Us ambassadors. The young leaders will get the chance to voice their opinions about the campaign, the direction of youth sport in Essex, and provide their input in designing some of the key children and young people events throughout the calendar year.
