Workshop 1 - Youth Voice

This interactive workshop will examine recognised theories, tools and methods from both within and outside of the PE world to enhance practitioners understanding of what effective ‘Youth Voice’ could look and feel like within their school and local area.

There will be time to explore through a mixture of information and task based activities what exactly we mean by Youth Voice, why it is essential , identify potential challenges and how to deliver meaningful experiences for children and young people within primary schools.

The workshop will also introduce practitioners to a new Youth Voice toolkit developed by the Youth Sport Trust.

Workshop 2 - Tackling Inequalities

This workshop will be in the form of a facilitated discussion with practitioners given the opportunity to consider what inequality looks and feels like within their school and local community and the role that physical activity could and should play to tackle these issues.

There will be the opportunity to share best practice, challenges and begin to unpick potential solutions.

Information and discussion will also be facilitated around the work of Active Essex in this space and how county and national programmes and initiatives can play a part in tackling inequalities at a local level.

Workshop 3 - Practical Session (Positive Experiences)

A practical session exploring the relationship between activity design, communication, feedback and task structure and the positive experience of a child or young person with being regularly physically active.

This session will unpick the importance of building a positive relationship with physical activity and offer practical tips and techniques on how practitioners can embed this into their practice.
